5 ESSENTIAL OILS AND THEIR USES
CINNAMON– It is great for killing airborne bacteria and it’s a natural insect repellent. It’s an antidepressant as it has been shown to elevate moods. It is also good for pain relief. Simply mix 2-3 drops with 1/2 a cup of carrier/base oil and massage onto affected area. You may also put a few drops into a pot of boiling water or in a bath to elevate your mood by inhaling the steam.
GRAPEFRUIT– Grapefruit gives uplifting energy, boosts emotions and decreases anxiety and stress. You can diffuse to sharpen focus and even apply to insect bites to alleviate discomfort.
BODY SCRUB: 1/2 cup extra virgin coconut oil, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 10 drops peppermint oil and 25 drops grapefruit oil.
PEPPERMINT– Inhale peppermint oil to calm an upset stomach. Menthol in peppermint provides relief from respiratory illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis, cold and cough. Add 1 drop peppermint oil to carrier oil and massage onto the temples for headache relief. Peppermint oil can provide energy and alertness before and during a workout. Do you have an ant problem? Put a few drops of oil on a cotton ball and place in the path of ants and watch them go away.
LAVENDER– FRENCH is more floral and BAVARIAN more rich and robust and used in perfume. Lavender is used to relax, calm and balance. Trouble sleeping? Add a few drops to the underside of your pillow to aide in a restful night sleep.
YLANG YLANG– Balances hormones, promotes healthy skin and hair and lifts mood. Place a few drops in shampoo for healthy hair and add to carrier oil for healthy skin. Diffuse with Grapefruit in your home for energy.
CARRIER OILS: ALMOND, OILIVE OIL, VIRGIN COCONUT, JOJOBA, CASTER
DIY DIFFUSER: EASY!!!
◦ A glass bottle or small vase with a narrow opening
◦ Warm water
◦ Essential oil of choice (20-30 drops)
◦ Dried twigs
That’s it! The twigs soak up the liquid and the scent fills the air.
